Copper Flecks on a dark chocolate base play up the texture of this messy-on-purpose crop

While the general placement of highlights is along the top of your head and around the face, you (and your stylist) can choose to place them wherever you'd like. The thicker you go, the edgier the look; the thinner the highlights, the more natural.

Blondes: Should try an apricot or golden tone. Opt for chunkier highlights with a "dirty" root for easier maintenance and a nice contrast

Redheads: Should take their base color bold since they're on-trend, but highlights should be subtle, with more focus on contouring the face

Brunettes: Can have fun with balayage and achieve a gorgeous natural look by having their stylist paint off-the-root highlights in foil.
